About ELG- Think globally, act locally
For over fifty years, our business has covered recycling and global trading in raw materials for the stainless steel industry.
Currently, ELG has more than forty operational locations, thereby offering you one of the largest networks worldwide. With its competent contact partners, ELG's network is able to guarantee you individual and prompt service at any time. Our Headquarters are located in Duisburg, Germany.
Our aim is for ELG to remain the innovative, reliable and flexible partner which always faces the demands of its suppliers and customers as a new challenge. These characteristics have made us one of the global market leaders and we will endeavour to continue unswervingly along this path.
Our products are mainly various types of stainless steel scrap and special alloys.
We also trade in primary raw materials such as charge chrome from Hernic Ferrochrome, of which ELG is a co-proprietor, as well as carbon fibre.
Our product range is rounded off by the trade in stainless steel sheet at our head offices in Duisburg.
Thanks to our manifold activities in the stainless steel sector, we have developed a particularly sound knowledge of the relevant markets, which is again of particular benefit to our suppliers and customers.
Stainless Steel Scrap
Origins and core of ELG
The use of stainless steel scrap in the production of stainless steel remains as important as ever.
This secondary raw material is, indispensable if the increasing demand for the necessary nickel units brought about by the constantly growing stainless steel production is to be met.
In addition, stainless steel scrap is normally traded at lower prices than primary nickel and chrome bearers and also enables shorter and more efficient tap-to-tap times thanks to its relatively fast melting and its high density.
ELG fulfils the important task of providing the link between our approx. 4,000 suppliers and the stainless steel works of this world.
We constantly purchase all kinds of stainless steel scrap, i.e. practically all kinds of alloyed scrap that contain nickel, chrome, or molybdenum as their main alloy elements.
This includes all forms, such as new production scrap or obsolete scrap, be it as solids, turnings, bands, residues, blocks or runnings.
We also buy primary products such as pure metals or ferro-alloys.
